Crews in Upper Darby responding to house fire

Fire crews responded Wednesday night to the 100 block of Chatham Road in Upper Darby Township for a house fire with entrapment with numerous calls from the neighborhood.

According to the emergency radio traffic:

Crews were sent to 169 Chatham Road shortly after 7:15 p.m., with crews told en route that a man went into the house and was refusing to come out.

The first chief on the scene reported a duplex with heavy fire on the first floor.

The first firefighters into the building reported no one was on the first floor, and began attacking the flames.

A short time later crews did locate a fire victim near the front door. He was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Much of the flames were considered knocked down by 7:35 p.m., and the fire declared under control about five minutes later.

Further details were not available Wednesday night.
