Cowboys vs. Eagles final score, results: Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia hold off Dallas to move to 6-0

The Eagles moved to 6-0 for the first time in 18 years with a 26-17 win over the Cowboys on “Sunday Night Football.”
After a dull, scoreless first quarter, Philadelphia exploded in the second with 20 consecutive points. It continued a theme for the Eagles, who have outscored their opponents 112-27 in second quarters this season.
Miles Sanders opened the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run. Philly then intercepted Dallas QB Cooper Rush twice, leading to 10 more points. Jalen Hurts connected with A.J. Brown for a touchdown pass to make it 14-0.
It seemed as if the game was turning into a blowout when Philadelphia extended its lead to 20-0, but Rush and the Cowboys’ offense came out looking like a different team in the second half.

Ezekiel Elliott closed the gap to 10 points with a 14-yard touchdown scamper midway through the third quarter. Rookie tight end Jake Ferguson found the end zone to make it a three-point game early in the fourth quarter.
With their lead evaporating, Hurts and the Eagles’ offense needed to respond with a score of their own to retake the momentum — and that’s exactly what they did.
The third-year quarterback led a 13-play, 75-yard drive that was capped by a touchdown throw to DeVonta Smith to put the game out of reach. Hurts finished 15 for 25 for 155 yards and two touchdowns passing.
The Eagles are 6-0 for the first time since 2004. They are the NFL’s only undefeated team and they lead the NFC East by game over the Giants.
Rush’s first loss as an NFL starter after five wins dropped the Cowboys to 4-2. They’re now third in the East.

11:24 p.m. FINAL — That’s a wrap. The Eagles move to 6-0 with a win over their division rival. It wasn’t always pretty, but they were in the driver’s seat after that second-quarter offensive explosion.
11:22 p.m. — A scuffle breaks out after Jason Kelce and Osa Odighizuwa get into it. Wouldn’t be an Eagles-Cowboys game without at least one fight.
11:19 p.m. — The 59-yard attempt is NO GOOD. That should do it for this one, the Eagles will be able to run out the clock with just over a minute left.
11:17 p.m. — Rush finds Lamb for a nice gain of 24 yards, but he follows it up with three straight incompletions to bring up fourth-and-10. It’s right at the edge of field goal range, but Mike McCarthy will send in Maher for a long attempt.
11:12 p.m. TWO-MINUTE WARNING — The Cowboys start the drive at their own 12-yard line. They’re down by nine points with 2 1/2 minutes on the clock. Rush completes to Hendershot, then Lamb a few plays later to move the ball to the 30-yard line. That’ll take us to the two-minute warning.
11:08 p.m. — The Eagles move it into Dallas territory, but a loss of a couple yards on second down brings up third-and-7. There’s an issue with the snap and the ball is briefly loose, but center Jason Kelce falls on it to prevent disaster. However, it knocked Philly just out of field goal range, so it will have to punt.
11:01 p.m. INTERCEPTION — Rush throws his third pick of the game and that might just about do it! It’s C.J. Gardner-Johnson with his second interception of the night. He left the game earlier with a hand injury, but he came back in and made another crucial play.
11 p.m. — Ezekiel Elliott continues to find success on the ground. He picks up 11 to take his line to 12 carries for 79 yards.
10:58 p.m. — That was a vital drive for the Eagles to re-take control of this game. Dallas now faces a nine-point deficit with seven minutes left to play.

10:56 p.m. — Philly goes for two to make it a 10-point game, but Sanders gets stuffed on a run up the middle and the try is no good.
10:54 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — After a catch by Brown moves the Eagles into the red zone, Hurts fakes the handoff and floats it to a wide-open DeVonta Smith for a touchdown!
10:53 p.m. — On another crucial third down, Hurts submarines for an all-important yard to keep the drive going. Leighton Vander Esch went flying over the pile to try to stop it, to no avail.
10:51 p.m. — Nick Sirianni and the Eagles seem to have mostly abandoned the passing game. This drive so far has featured nine runs to go with just one passing play.
10:50 p.m. — Facing another third-and-4, the Eagles hand it off to Kenneth Gainwell, who just barely gets enough to earn another first down.
10:47 p.m. — Sanders takes the handoff on three straight plays to start the drive, picking up a first down then a few more yards to set up third-and-4. Hurts drops back, then scrambles and lunges to move the chains.
10:44 p.m. — Against all odds, we have a real game on our hands. The Cowboys’ offense looked dead in the water for the entire first half, but they’ve been unstoppable so far in the second. Philly could really use some points on this drive to shift the momentum back.

10:41 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Rush goes to Ferguson again, who jukes two defenders and jogs into the end zone for his first career NFL touchdown! That caps off an impressive 15-play, 93-yard drive for Dallas.
10:40 p.m. — Rush completes it to Ferguson for a first down. There was a flag on the play for illegal contact against Philly anyway. First and goal, Dallas.
End of third quarter: Eagles 20, Cowboys 10
10:38 p.m. — After an illegal motion penalty backs up the Cowboys, Zeke powers forward for a gain of 12. It’ll be third-and-2 from the Philadelphia 12-yard line when the fourth quarter begins.
10:34 p.m. — CeeDee Lamb makes a grab and scurries down the left sideline for 16 more yards. The officials initially threw a flag for an illegal block in the back, but after some discussion they picked it up. It looks like picking it up was the wrong decision, though. Pollard quite clearly blocked Bradberry in the back. That’s a lucky break for Dallas.
10:32 p.m. — After Elliott picked up 6 yards to convert on third-and-1, Rush completes it to Lamb to move the ball to midfield. The Cowboys’ offense continues to move the ball this half.
10:29 p.m. — Elliott powers ahead on back-to-back runs to pick up a first down, then Rush throws a dart to his left that’s caught by Gallup for another solid gain.
10:24 p.m. — The Eagles can’t take advantage, though. After Sanders runs for a short gain, Hurts fires incomplete to bring up another third down. Hurts drops back, but he’s sacked for a big loss by Dante Fowler. Dallas will get the ball back with a chance to make it a one-possession game.
10:22 p.m. — The Cowboys thought they had forced third-and-10, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Micah Parsons gives Philly a free 15 yards plus a first down.

10:15 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — What a huge drive to start the half for the Cowboys! Elliott gets the handoff and runs up the middle, then turns left and finds daylight. He sprints to the corner for Dallas’ first touchdown of the night. Somehow, this game is still far from over.
10:13 p.m. — Rush goes deep for Ferguson once again, who is wide open and hauls it in for a big gain. Dallas is gathering some much-needed momentum on offense. They have the ball inside the red zone.
10:12 p.m. — Rush rolls to his left and finds rookie tight end Jake Ferguson for a pick up of 9 yards. Pollard then gets back-to-back handoffs and picks up another first down. Philly’s C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who has an interception tonight, got hurt on that last play.
10:07 p.m. — The Cowboys’ defense forces a third-and-9 after Hurts has to throw it away on second down. Hurts then tries to scramble up the middle but goes nowhere. The Eagles will start the second half with a punt.
10:06 p.m. — Injury update: Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of the game with a concussion.
10:05 p.m. — Hurts rolls right and finds Dallas Goedert for a gain of 14 yards on the first play of the half.
10:04 p.m. START OF SECOND HALF — Maher kicks it into the end zone for a touchback and the second half is underway.
9:56 p.m. — The halftime stats tell the story. The Cowboys have just four first downs compared to Philly’s 12, and they trail the Eagles in total yards 173-81. Their two turnovers were also killers, with both leading to points for Philly.
9:50 p.m. — Dallas ended the half with points, but they have a mountain to climb after getting outscored 20-3 in the second quarter. Philadelphia will get the ball back to start the second half.

9:48 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Maher puts it through from 30 yards for the Cowboys’ first points of the night.
9:47 p.m. — Rush throws into the end zone for Gallup but it’s nearly picked off again. James Bradberry gets a hand on it but it hits the turf incomplete. Brett Maher will come on to try and get Dallas on the board.
9:43 p.m. — Noah Brown nearly made an unbelievable touchdown catch in the back corner of the end zone, but he was ruled out of bounds after an official review. After Rush’s pass is batted down on second down, Dallas faces third-and-10.
9:41 p.m. — Completions to Hendershot and Gallup move Dallas to the edge of the red zone. On third-and-1, Ezekiel Elliott plows forward for 9 more yards and a first down. The Cowboys have it on the 12-yard line with 44 seconds left in the half.
9:39 p.m. — Finally, there’s a big play for Dallas. It comes on the kickoff return, as KaVontae Turpin shows off his speed and breaks free for a big return. Rush and the Cowboys will start the drive from near the Eagles’ 40-yard line.

9:36 p.m. FIELD GOAL — He knocks it through from 34 yards. Philly’s lead just keeps on growing.
9:34 p.m. — Hurts takes off up the middle for a gain of 12, but that’ll still bring up fourth down. The Eagles’ offense briefly stays on the field, but it was just to try and draw the Cowboys offsides again. They don’t bite this time around, so Jake Elliott will trot on for another field goal attempt.
9:31 p.m. TWO-MINUTE WARNING — With 120 seconds left in the half, Philly faces a third-and-18 from near the Cowboys’ 30-yard line.
9:28 p.m. — DeVonta Smith comes up with a pair of catches to move the Eagles down to the Dallas 27-yard line, then Sanders bursts ahead for another first down to enter the red zone.
9:24 p.m. INTERCEPTION — This is spiraling out of control for Dallas. Rush makes a very careless throw across the middle intended for Michael Gallup, but Darius “Big Play” Slay jumps the route and picks it off. It’s been a rough, rough first half for Rush.
9:22 p.m. — The Cowboys finally get a first down after a Pollard run picks up 15 yards. But the ensuing two plays go nowhere, and they now face third-and-9.

9:19 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Elliott’s kick is true from 51 yards to extend the Eagles’ lead.
9:18 p.m. — The Eagles can’t make any progress on their drive, going three-and-out after Quez Watkins was pushed out of bounds on third down. Jake Elliott will come on for a field goal try.
9:15 p.m. — After watching a few replays, it looks like Lamb actually did make the line to gain on that third-down catch. But rather than challenge or call timeout, the Cowboys quickly went for it. Tough break for Dallas, but on the other hand their staff in the booth probably should have suggested a challenge there.
9:12 p.m. TURNOVER ON DOWNS — Mike McCarthy gambles and goes for it on fourth-and-1 from his own 34-yard line. Rush fakes the handoff, rolls right and throws downfield but it’s broken up! Another terrible sequence for the Dallas offense, and another drive with fantastic starting field position for Hurts and Co.
9:11 p.m. — On the ensuing drive, Elliott gets stuffed on first down and Rush throws incomplete on second. That sets up third-and-9, and Rush completes it to CeeDee Lamb. It was close, but he’s been spotted just short to bring up fourth down.
9:09 p.m. — As mentioned on the NBC broadcast, the Eagles have been superb in second quarters all season long. After that touchdown, they now have a plus-82 point differential in second quarters this year.

9:05 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Hurts tosses right to Brown, who has room to run. He lowers his shoulder and bulldozes into the end zone for his second touchdown of the season! Things have escalated quickly after a dull first quarter.
9:02 p.m. — Sanders and Boston Scott rip off a few good runs in a row to move the ball into the red zone, before Dallas finally gets a stop to set up third-and-3.
8:59 p.m. INTERCEPTION — Things go from bad to worse for the Cowboys. On the first play of the drive, Rush throws down the middle but his pass is tipped high into the air and picked off by C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Hurts and the Eagles immediately have the ball back with great field position at the Dallas 44-yard line.

8:54 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Miles Sanders powers his way into the end zone to open the scoring! That mistake by the Cowboys ends up costing them a touchdown.
8:52 p.m. — BIG mistake by the Cowboys. The Eagles were trying to draw them offside on fourth-and-4, and they did just that. A costly neutral zone infraction penalty gives Philly first and goal from the 5-yard line.
8:50 p.m. — Gainwell picks up 9 yards on the next play to keep the Eagles moving. A few plays later, Hurts gets brought down for a loss before throwing incomplete. On third-and-12, he connects with Brown but it’s short of the marker. They’ll leave their offense on the field for now with the end of the quarter approaching.
8:47 p.m. — On fourth down, Hurts passes short right to Brown who easily picks up the first down with a gain of 11 yards to keep the drive alive.
8:46 p.m. — Another Eagles tight end, Dallas Goedert, gets involved with a 9-yard catch of his own. A few plays later, they face a third-and-5 and running back Kenneth Gainwell gets stuffed to bring up fourth-and-3 from the Dallas 38-yard line.
8:42 p.m. — Hurts finds his tight end Jack Stoll for a gain of 21. That’s the biggest play of the night so far and it moves the Eagles to their own 43-yard line.
8:38 p.m. — Another Dallas drive stalls out. Runs by Pollard and Elliott set up third-and-4, and Rush’s pass intended for Peyton Hendershot falls incomplete. That’ll bring on Bryan Anger for another punt.
8:35 p.m. — Tony Pollard gets the ball on back-to-back plays to start the drive, picking up 3 yards and then 8 yards to move the chains.
8:30 p.m. — The Cowboys get a big first-down sack courtesy of Dorance Armstrong. Their pass rush has been absolutely dominant this season. Philadelphia gets a few yards back on second down after a catch by A.J. Brown, but Hurts’ pass on third-and-8 falls incomplete. The Eagles will punt it away.
8:28 p.m. — Jalen Hurts takes the field for the first time tonight, and on second-and-10 he hits DeVonta Smith in stride for a gain of 13 yards.
8:25 p.m. — CeeDee Lamb runs for 8 yards on first down, then Cooper Rush’s first pass of the night gets broken up. On third-and-2, Ezekiel Elliott gets smothered at the line of scrimmage and can’t reach the line to gain. That’s a three-and-out to open the night for the Dallas offense.
8:20 p.m. — The Cowboys will receive the opening kickoff. We are underway from Lincoln Financial Field.
8:16 p.m. — Former Cowboys coach Jason Garrett just hit us with a “Fly, Eagles, Fly” on NBC’s pregame coverage. I’m sure the fans in Dallas will be thrilled about that.
