“I know some people have been a bit suspicious,” she said. “I’ve seen the comments! But I definitely do think Dee-Dee and Joel could have a future together. They have long-term potential.”

In upcoming scenes which will air on Wednesday (February 7), fellow solicitor Joel looks like he’s hiding a secret, after offering to meet a client to help Dee-Dee out with her workload.

After meeting with Dee-Dee’s client, their talk in the Bistro is interrupted when newcomer Emily turns up and is clearly very agitated.

Panicked, Joel quickly attempts to steer Emily out of the Bistro while Toyah Battersby looks on. But who could the mystery woman be, and is Joel hiding something from his girlfriend?

Opening up more about Dee-Dee and Joel’s relationship, Sterling-Brown said that Joel has been Dee-Dee’s rock throughout recent weeks.

After discovering the devastating extent of her father Ed’s debts from a gambling addiction at Christmas, Sterling-Brown said that Dee-Dee has relied on Joel for emotional support.

“Being in a relationship is a really new thing for Dee-Dee. For her to have someone who she can rely on this way, especially with everything that’s happening with her family, she starts to see Joel in a new light,” she explained.

“He’s someone who’s there to support her and actually have her back.

“Dee-Dee is usually everyone else’s support system but to Joel, Dee-Dee is his priority and that means a lot to her.”
