Cora appreciates Fenway atmosphere during Sox-Yankees series

The Boston Red Sox split their recent series vs. the New York Yankees with Sunday’s exciting 11-6 win. The storied Sox-Yankees rivalry creates a fun environment any time the two teams compete against one another.

According to Alex Cora, recent playoff series between the Sox and Yankees have given the rivalry a new wind.

Tomase: Red Sox’ thrilling wins vs. Yankees may have long-term benefits

“The game means a lot. There was a fight (in the stands) in Game 2. I haven’t seen that in a while,” Cora said, via MassLive. “I’m not saying it’s back to 2004 or whatever, but when you start playing them in the playoffs, the regular season means a little bit more for the fans. We played them in ’18 and we beat them. We beat them last year in the Wild Card game and the fans recognized that.”

After the Sox win on Sunday, Alex Cora had positive things to say about the fans at Fenway Park and expressed an opinion that is not all that unpopular.

“They showed up and it was fun. They were loud, it was intense. Not too many waves which is good.”

Maybe Red Sox fans on the road can help stifle some of the waves at the upcoming games in Tampa Bay and New York. The Red Sox will face the Yankees again on Friday, July 15 at Yankee Stadium.
