‘Completely detached’ Richard Madeley blasts Kwarteng for being out of touch with Britons

“You have the same thing happening three weeks ago with Matt Hancock, who the Prime Minister, totally out of touch with public opinion, thought that it was ok for Matt Hancock to stay in post,” Madeley continued. 

“And then, of course, the guy had to resign the next day because of the avalanche of criticism and the on Monday, we had a Prime Minister telling us he was going to sack him [Matt Hancock] anyway – it’s ridiculous. 

“And listening to you talk, you’re being very calm, very measured, you don’t seem to be connecting with the reality people are experiencing right now as they go to work and the shops.”
