Comox Valley RCMP looks for more witnesses, dashcam video in fatal hit-and-run

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who was with Rodney Kelly on Feb. 8, or who has dashcam video capturing travel in Cumberland and along the Comox Valley Parkway that night.
Police want to anyone who was with or spoke to a cyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run in Cumberland this month.
Comox Valley RCMP were called to a report of an injured cyclist on the Comox Valley Parkway near Minto Road in Courtenay just before 11 p.m. on Feb. 8.
The cyclist, identified as Rodney Kelly, was found by a passerby who called 911. Paramedics and a crew from the Cumberland Fire Department provided treatment, but the man died in hospital.
RCMP said investigators continue to look for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who was with Kelly on Feb. 8, or who has dashcam video capturing his travel in Cumberland and along the Comox Valley Parkway between 9 and 10:30 p.m. that night.
Steven Henry Squires, 45, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with Kelly’s death, and one count of failing to stop at the scene of a crash causing death.
His next court appearance is scheduled for March 7 in Courtenay.
