Columbus Weather: On-and-off rain chances expected Tuesday

Good Tuesday #GoodTuesday

Hit-or-miss rain is expected the next several days, mainly to the south, but there will be drier spells before it starts getting wetter toward end of the workweek. Then we heat up for the weekend.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy, isolated rain/rumbles, high 78.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy, few showers south, low 63.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly to partly cloudy, few showers south, high 81.

THURSDAY: Partly cloudy, isolated showers & storms, high 77.

FRIDAY: Cloudy, scattered showers & storms, high 78.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy, slight chance for rain, high 83.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy, slight chance for rain, high 87.

Good Tuesday morning! An area of low pressure continues to churn over Southern Kentucky this morning and it is occasionally tossing up bands of rain into Southern/Central Ohio. We will continue to see a few showers today and maybe have a few rumbles of thunder. The area of low pressure will drift a little farther south tomorrow before lifting back north later Thursday into Friday for a better chance of rain. Then it lifts north for the weekend with a lull from most of the rain before a cold front arrives Sunday night and Monday with a better shot of rain.

Today we will start off mild, mid 60s, and warm to around 78 with mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers and a few storms possible. Best chance of rain will be Central and Southern Ohio. Showers tonight drift a little farther south with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 63. Tomorrow most of the rain will stay farther south and we could see more sun breaking between the clouds with a high of 81. Winds out of the east 10-15 mph today and tomorrow.

Thursday will start with partly cloudy skies and more clouds move in with the approaching low pressure. The chance of rain will go up later in the day with a high of 77. Scattered showers and storms Friday with a high of 78.

The weekend will have a slight chance, 30% chance, of rain each day. The best chances will be early Saturday as the low pressure moves away to the northeast then again later Sunday evening with an approaching cold front. Partly cloudy during the middle of the weekend with the drier air for a while. It will heat up with highs around 83 on Saturday then 87 on Sunday. More rain returns on Monday with a cold front and that will drop our highs back to around 80 for early next week. Have a good one!
