College football scores, schedule, games today: Nebraska, Minnesota, NC State in action on Thursday in Week 1

Nebraska #Nebraska

Week 1 of the 2023 college football season has arrived. A five-day affair stretching from Thursday through Monday is on deck as teams around the country get their first taste of action with hope springing eternal for what could be in store during the months ahead. Thursday’s slate features 11 games involving FBS teams, including two featuring Power Five teams going head-to-head.

No. 14 Utah hosts Florida in a rematch of last season’s classic showdown in which the Gators prevailed 29-26. Now, for the first time ever, the Gators are traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, to play in high altitude against the two-time reigning Pac-12 champions in a game with major stakes for both schools. Also highlighting Thursday’s action is a Big Ten showdown between Nebraska and Minnesota as the Cornhuskers begin the Matt Rhule era by going on the road to play a well-established West division foe. The Cornhuskers haven’t made a bowl game since 2016 but play a manageable 2023 schedule that could allow for early strides under Rhule.

Elsewhere, Power Five schools such as Wake Forest, UCF (making its debut as a member of the Big 12), NC State, Missouri and Arizona State will also be in action to ring in the new season and kick off Week 1. CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the evening. All times Eastern
