Backup center Cody Zeller only played eight minutes for the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the 2023 NBA Finals on Sunday at Ball Arena, but it was enough to nearly botch his side’s victory over the Denver Nuggets.

Zeller, 30, replaced Kevin Love on the court late in the third quarter and quickly made an easy layup before fouling Nikola Jokic for an And-1 conversion.

Jokic, 28, ended up exposing Zeller in that short stretch and wasn’t the only one to do so. Christian Braun stole the ball from the big man the very next possession.

Zeller fouled Jokic one more time before Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra decided to pull him from the game for good.

Bam Adebayo replaced Zeller, who never returned to the game. He was fortunate his team was able to complete the road win.

Zeller did not escape the NBA community roasting him even though Miami tied the series ahead of Game 3 at home.

Social media ran rampart with memes poking fun at Zeller’s horrible performance, which came at a time that the Heat was starting to regain control of the contest.

Some users pointed out that Zeller should not be in the NBA if other centers such as Dwight Howard and Boogie Cousins are out of the league.

One fan even mentioned Larry Bird’s iconic quote about being offended when a white man guards him as if to say that Jokic feels the same with Zeller.
