Co Tyrone road victim dies two weeks on from van crash

A MAN his 20s involved in a road crash in Co Tyrone has died two weeks after the incident.

He was one of two men hospitalised after a single vehicle crash on the Tummery Road between Dromore and Irvinestown on the morning of Saturday August 20.

Both men were found in a yellow Ford Transit discovered in a ditch shortly before 8.30am.

Police confirmed on Saturday that one of the men had died from his injuries two weeks on.

It’s understood the pair had travelled to Co Tyrone from the west coast of Ireland.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam footage of the collision, to contact them on 101.

Meanwhile the funeral has taken place of a Co Armagh pensioner killed in Dungannon on Thursday morning.

Ivan McIlrath, who was aged in his 80s, died after his Citroen Berlingo van was involved in a collision with a bus.

The crash occurred shortly before 9.30am on Moy Road, at Dungannon Rugby Club.

Police confirmed Mr McIlrath, who was from Madden Road in Keady, died at the scene.

The grandfather was laid to rest following a funeral in Keady on Sunday.
