Cloudy and breezy Thursday before the rain moves in for the weekend

Good Thursday #GoodThursday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Thursday morning. Cloud cover has steadily streamed in overnight leaving us mostly cloudy and cool with temperatures in the 40s to start off the day.

The breeze overnight should prevent any fog or frost from impacting your morning routine. Today will be a mostly cloudy to overcast day with a southerly wind gusting up to 20 miles per hour, high temperatures will be right around 60 degrees this afternoon. We will see light scattered rain showers moving in from the west late tonight into Friday morning. Friday’s commute will bring some light scattered showers across the area with morning lows staying mild in the middle to upper 40s. Friday is looking mostly cloudy and mild with temperatures reaching the lower 60s. Periods of light to moderate scattered rain showers and a few rumbles of thunder can be expected off and on through the day.

Sadly, the weekend forecast is looking wet yet again. Saturday is likely going to be the wettest day with widespread rain showers developing in the early morning hours and staying with us through the day. Rainfall rates can be fairly high at times which may led to isolated flooding. Sunday will bring more off and on light to moderate rain showers across the area with a chance at a few isolated stronger storms developing during the late afternoon and evening. Due to the saturated soils and the possibility of some storms producing 40+ mph wind gusts, we have put out the First Alert for Sunday.

The wet and unsettled pattern will continue into Monday with additional rounds of scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, temperatures will be cooler in the low to middle 50s. Rainfall totals for Friday through Monday will range from one to three inches and the threat for flooding will be monitored closely. High temperatures for next week are trending colder with highs in the 40s and 50s.
