Cleveland Indians New Era Local Market Edition cap includes embroidered guitar, buckeyes and … pierogi

New Era #NewEra

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Indians fans can show their pride for the home of Rock ‘n Roll, the Buckeye State and even local delicacies such as pierogi with a locally-inspired cap announced Tuesday by New Era.

The official cap supplier of Major League Baseball released its “Local Market Edition” with nods to all of the things that make Cleveland great. In addition to the Indians’ “Block C” logo on the front, and “Cleveland” text on the back, the cap features an embroidered guitar to represent the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, a couple of Buckeyes and a folded up doughy pierogi on the back.

The cap also includes a logo from the club’s 1920 World Series Championship and the text: “Cleveland The Forest City.”

According to the New Era website, the cap is “Inspired by their home city, the Cleveland Indians Local Market 59FIFTY Fitted Cap features an embroidered Indians logo at the front panels with city-inspired elements throughout the cap and a team color MLB Batterman logo at the rear. Additional details include a gray undervisor.”

Examples from other teams include beer and cheese for the Milwaukee Brewers, a cowboy hat for the Houston Astros and the Liberty Bell for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Reaction to the Local Market Edition caps was mixed, to say the least.

“In the last half-hour we learned that Zach Plesac broke his thumb on a shirt, New Era put a pierogi logo on an Indians hat, Browns have COVID again, and Food Network just gave Guy Fieri $80 million. And we thought a Tiki Barge ramming the Nautica Queen would be today’s big news.” — @MikeStein1000

“At least it looks like a pierogi. The “Cincinnati chili” on the Reds hat looks like a bowl of refried beans.” —@ArthuronSports

“Side note: You know how Lids has embroidery in some of their stores? These hats are what happen when you enter completely inebriated.” — @1948Indians
