Red Bull has confirmed it is investigating an allegation of inappropriate behaviour made against Christian Horner by a colleague.
As widely reported by various European media, the Red Bull parent company has hired external investigators to carry out the investigation. Horner, 50, who is team principal of the energy drinks giant’s primary Formula 1 team, denies the allegation.
A statement from the parent company read: “After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister.
“The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
Regarding the allegation made against him, Horner told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that he “completely denies” the claim. Mirror Sport has approached Red Bull Racing for comment.
Horner has been team principal of the F1 team since it was bought by the Red Bull parent company ahead of the 2005 season. He is married to former Spice Girl Geri Horner, having tied the knot in May 2015.
The investigation comes just weeks before Red Bull Racing’s latest F1 title defence gets under way. Max Verstappen and his team head into the 2024 campaign as overwhelming favourites to top both championships again by the end of the year.

It remains to be seen how strong their new RB20 car will be compared to the challengers created by their rivals over the winter. But Formula E champion Jake Dennis, who has been testing the Red Bull car on the simulator, has warned others that the Milton Keynes-based squad has created another fearsome machine.
He told the Mirror: We’ve got an extremely fast race car again at the Red Bull team. I would expect us to become champions again, unless someone like Ferrari or Mercedes somehow manages to find about a second [per lap] overnight. I think it’s going to be quite a dull season in Formula 1 with Max probably dominating.”
