An armed Metropolitan Police officer who shot dead a man in south London faces possible criminal charges after the case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Chris Kaba, 24, who had been due to become a father, died after he was hit by a single bullet fired by an armed officer on September 5 last year in Streatham Hill.

An inquest that opened in October was told that Kaba was blocked by a marked police vehicle while driving an Audi and there was “contact” between the two cars before a marksman fired a single shot through the windscreen, hitting him in the head.

Kaba’s death sparked anti-police demonstrations outside New Scotland Yard
