Chris Evans, 54, met his match with his Virgin Radio co-star Rachel Horne, 41, after he likened passing kidney stones to giving birth. With both causing discomfort to either party involved, Chris described his pain as feeling like he was “dying”.

It was pretty painful, I thought I was dying

Speaking to Rachel and Vassos Alexander on Tuesday morning’s show, he recalled the horror of the condition that left him unable to move from one place to another without worrying something would happen.

“It was unbelievable, I has no idea what was happening!” he said.

“It felt like I was giving birth through my whatever… I know it’s not the same,” he grinned as Rachel tutted.

“Totally not the same,” she noted, referring to actually giving birth.

But Chris tried to reason with her: “Have you passed a kidney stone?”

Rachel retorted: “Have you given birth?”

“Have you passed a kidney stone through your penis?” Chris laughed as he repeated his question.

“No I haven’t, have you given birth through your vagina?” Rachel giggled.

The radio DJ gave up as he realised he wasn’t going to win.

“No I haven’t! But the point is, you don’t know what I was going through and I don’t know what you were going through!”

Rachel was still having non of it as she insisted women “have a harder job”.

“OK good, excellent, glad you got that one off your chest,” Chris roared with laughter.

“But it was pretty painful, I thought I was dying!”

His co-star made a sarcastic “aw” as Chris described the pain he was in.

“What happens before the obvious issues, you do get blood. The pain is like someone’s microwaving your willy but you don’t know why!” he said.

“You don’t get any heads up, I didn’t know I had kidney stones!”

He revealed that Vassos, who also moved from BBC Radio 2 with Chris, asked him why he was crying.

“I said, ‘I think I might be dying!'” Chris remembered, as the studio began to laugh.

He admitted something happened during the 8am news segment but didn’t go into too much detail, only that he had to be cautious of the length of journey he made.

“You lose all control of everything, literally all control on that side,” he shook his head.

“Never the same.”

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio.
