ONE of the multi-billion companies in China is now planning to put up an electric vehicle plant in Bacolod City, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Monday, January 9.
Benitez, who was part of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s state visit to China last week, said it was an eye-opener because he met several big companies in China.
“Most of them are operating in different countries. They were expressing interest to invest in the Philippines and I am happy to know that one of those companies that will be building electric vehicles has already identified Bacolod City as their place of operations,” he said.
He added that he already discussed it with the chief executive officer and chairman of the company and their representatives have already visited the city.
The mayor stressed that this company, Saanxi, will construct an electric vehicle plant or electric public utility vehicle in Bacolod.
“It’s a collaboration between Chinese and Korean companies,” Benitez said.
He said some of the companies are also interested with infrastructure projects in Bacolod City and they are set to visit the city soon.
“I expect them to be visiting us very, very soon,” he added.*
