China ‘puts countries in the doghouse’ and ‘lets them out’

The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says “China puts countries in the doghouse … and then it lets them out again” which was “always the case” with Australia.
“It’s done the same with Japan, it’s done the same with Korea, it’s done the same with numerous European countries,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
It comes amid a meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in Bali.
Mr Sheridan said the Chinese “understand Australia is an ally of the United States” given that the Australia-China relationship “is a function of the US-China relationship”.
“The Chinese want various things from the United States.”
