In a season where he has been absolutely dominant in every capacity, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes could again make his mark on the NFL’s record book with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

If Mahomes can get past his opponent this evening, he would become just the fifth player ever to lead the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns while also making the Super Bowl in the same season. This feat would put him in the company of Dan Marino, Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning, who accomplished the task in 1984, 2001, 2007, and 2013, respectively.

While Mahomes is more likely to be focused on the task at hand rather than his place in the NFL’s record book, the fact that he is in a position to join such elite company demonstrates just how impressive his season has been. Clearly, Kansas City wouldn’t be the force it is in the AFC without his steady presence under center, and his inclusion in such a select list would only serve to prove just how prolific and successful Mahomes has been as the Chiefs’ starter this season.

Cincinnati is sure to put up a tough fight against Kansas City in this game, and despite his injured ankle, Mahomes seems destined for greatness win or lose.
