Cher’s adult son, his wife slam ‘unfit’ singer’s bid for conservatorship

Cher’s 47-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, is challenging her bid for a conservatorship, after a judge denied the pop icon’s recent request to control his finances.

Allman and his wife, Marieangela King, say he’s now sober and getting his finances in order, including the quarterly payments he receives from a trust set up by his late dad — and Cher’s second husband — Gregg Allman, according to new legal documents obtained by TMZ.

Despite Cher, 77, claiming her son is battling “severe mental health and substance abuse issues” and, as a result, is “substantially unable to manage his financial resources,” Allman and King say otherwise.

King is also accusing the Oscar winner of not just being “categorically unfit” to act as conservator — alleging Cher has identified as “manic depressive” — but of orchestrating a kidnapping plot. She claims Cher arranged for Allman to be “held captive” at a rehabilitation facility in Mexico, where he was “held against his will” for two months.

In the fall, news broke that King had accused the “Believe” singer of setting up an abduction of Allman in late 2022. King claimed Cher hired four men to remove Allman from a hotel room on the night of their wedding anniversary as part of an attempt to keep the estranged couple from reconciling.

The Grammy Award winner has denied King’s allegations of such plots, telling People the “rumor is not true.”

“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher said in September, pointing to her son’s alleged long-term substance abuse. “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children.”

Cher filed for immediate conservatorship of Allman at the end of 2023. A judge denied the bid but the matter will be revisited during a March 6 court hearing.
