Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal: Analysis

Chelsea’s frustration was clear at the final whistle after squandering a two-goal lead to draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

They had dominated for long periods and goals from Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk had put them in charge until keeper Robert Sanchez gifted Declan Rice a goal and threw Arsenal a lifeline they grabbed gratefully.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino, once the disappointment subsides, will be satisfied with much of Chelsea’s performance which should have earned them their most significant win since he took charge in the summer.

Chelsea were positive and demonstrated the intensity and attacking intent that is Pochettino’s trademark, making the late concession of two goals even more infuriating for the manager.

Mudryk shows signs of increasing confidence while Moises Caicedo patrolled midfield with authority as Chelsea were the better side until Sanchez’s poor clearance 13 minutes from time.

Chelsea should have made this a third consecutive league win but there are signs that Pochettino is starting to put his imprint on the style and approach of his team.
