Check out the fashionable ‘fits we spotted on the streets of NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood

Chelsea #Chelsea

The best place to find experimental fashion choices in New York City is Chelsea. The west-side neighborhood has great food and beautiful views of the Hudson River. In this episode of ITK: Fit Check, our host and resident fashionista, Aimee Kelly (@byaimeekelly), explores Chelsea, chats with fashionable New Yorkers and discovers what inspires each unique sense of style.

Dressed in an experimental look of her own — orange leather pants, a swirl-patterned top and a blue jacket with furry trim — Aimee is ready to see what the neighborhood is wearing.

Aimee meets with Elliot, a New Yorker donning a Ralph Lauren Purple Label sweatshirt, pants sourced from an Instagram brand, Nike Air Jordan high-top sneakers and Louis Vuitton sunglasses — one of the last pairs Virgil Abloh designed. Elliot says of their fashion inspiration, “I like to take pieces of things that inspire me in my life. I love classic film, but I also love things like pop culture and hip-hop. I combine those two things, like Cary Grant meets Kanye West, and that’s kind of my deal.”

Later on, Aimee chats with Austyn, who wears a family heirloom jacket, vintage Land’s End pants and block-heel Vagabond boots. Austyn says that one piece of this outfit she couldn’t live without would be her silver-tone hoop earrings. “They’re made from discarded bullets in Laos, and they’re my signature piece.”

“How does Chelsea inspire your style?” Aimee asks Blessid, who wears a short-sleeve denim jumpsuit and black platform boots.

“Around here, the vibe is a bit more clean and crisp, so it brings out that side of my fashion,” she says. “Sometimes I can lean into grunginess, but it’s nice to look a little put-together.”
