INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams was sidelined in the first quarter and eventually ruled out against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night because of an injury to his right ankle.

Williams had one catch for 15 yards, after which he came up hobbling and in apparent pain. Williams stayed on the field for one more play before he jogged gingerly to the sideline, favoring the ankle.

Williams suffered a right high ankle sprain in Week 7 before the Bolts went into a bye week. He then missed two games because of the injury.

Before Sunday night’s matchup against the Chiefs, Williams told ESPN that he felt “200 percent” in his recovery, now four weeks removed from when he suffered the injury. A source told ESPN that it was anticipated Williams would be able to endure a normal workload in his return.
