The Chargers interviewed Detroit Lions offensive and defensive coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn on Saturday for their coaching vacancy, the 13th and 14th candidates to replace Brandon Staley.
Johnson, Glenn and the Lions face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in an NFC Divisional playoff game.
Johnson has been with Detroit since 2019, serving as the Lions’ offensive coordinator for the past two seasons. The Lions were one of the NFL’s top-ranked offensive teams during the 2023 regular season, ranking fifth in points scored and third in yardage while posting a 12-5 record.
Glenn’s résumé also includes stints as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns. He scouted for the New York Jets, starting in 2012. Glenn was a defensive back for 15 seasons in the NFL, including nine with the Jets and was a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
