Celtics vs. 76ers score: Live updates as Boston hosts Philadelphia on opening night of 2022-23 NBA season

After a long offseason, the 2022-23 season tipped off Tuesday night. Kicking off the action is the battle between two of the top Eastern Conference contenders as the Boston Celtics take on the Philadelphia 76ers from the TD Garden in the first game of an NBA doubleheader. With 12 minutes of basketball left to be played in regulation, the Celtics have managed to open up a double-digit lead over the Sixers with the fourth quarter on the way.
The Celtics have had one tumultuous offseason. The East champs dealt not only with significant injuries to Danilo Gallinari and Robert Williams III, but also a change at head coach as Ime Udoka was suspended for the season year after having an inappropriate relationship with a team staff member. Filling his role will be Joe Mazzulla, who’s been promoted to interim head coach.
As for the 76ers, they look to bounce back from a second-round exit against the Heat in last season’s playoffs. Philadelphia made plenty of moves this offseason, adding PJ Tucker, De’Anthony Melton, Danuel House Jr. and Montrezl Harrell as it tries to improve its supporting cast around stars Joel Embiid and Harden, who re-upped on a new two-year deal.
