Celtic star Reo Hatate will accept Saudi move – expert

Celtic star Reo Hatate would struggle to turn down a move to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said Hatate is “too good a player” to join the Saudi Pro League over the Premier League but insisted the money would be too tough to reject.

The Celts have already lost Jota to the Saudi top flight after he joined Al-Ittihad earlier this month in a £25million deal.

The Portuguese winger is set to earn £10m-a-year in wages on a three-year deal.

Hatate has been heavily linked with an exit from Parkhead with teams including Brighton monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

The 25-year-old still has three years remaining on his Hoops contract.

McAvennie suggested that whilst he thinks Hatate will stay at Celtic for another season, the threat of a big money Saudi offer is real.

“You can’t rule out Saudi,” he told Football Insider.

“If they come in you cannot refuse the money. For me that would be a waste.

“Jota I could understand because he is not ready for the Premier League but Hatate will go to the Premier League next year and make a lot of money anyway.

“I do not know whether he will be going to Saudi, I think he is too good a player. Jota is only 22 so he will come back to the UK or go back to Portugal because he has not even hit is prime yet.“

In other news, Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers make moves to sign Celtic star centre-back.
