Alan Hutton has insisted Celtic will be “monitoring” potential replacements for Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of the summer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said £15million would be a good price for the Celts to land if they sell Kyogo at the end of the season.
On 29 April, sources told this site that the Hoops are braced for Premier League bids for the 29-year-old this summer.
Crystal Palace have watched the striker this season and relegation contenders Southampton are also interested in his services but Ange Postecoglou’s side have no intention of letting their star man leave for less than £15m this summer.
The Japan international’s current contract runs until 2025 after joining from Vissel Kobe in 2021 as one of the first signings of the Postecoglou era.
When asked if the Celts would be willing to sell Kyogo for £15m, Hutton told Football Insider: “I hope so.
“I would never say never in football and £15m is a lot of money for any Scottish team.
“He has been that outstanding player. He will no doubt win player of the year, he is a thorn in Rangers’ side constantly.
“He is 28 now so £15m is good. Plus the recruitment has been outstanding so it would not surprise me if Ange and his backroom staff are monitoring somebody to come in if that were to happen.
“It really depends on what money is on the table and who they have coming through.
“As a Rangers fan I would like to see him go but I should imagine Celtic fans would like to see him stay. The grass isn’t always greener so I think he will still be happy where he is.“
In other news, Celtic fear Postecoglou has already decided to join Premier League club.
