HE was famous for his lethal instincts in front of goal in the Hoops.

But with a closely-cropped haircut throughout his Celtic career, the only thing that was long was his list of goals.

John Hartson was a firm favourite during his Celtic career, where he scored over 100 goals in a five-year spell in Glasgow.

The former Wales hitman stood out during his time in Glasgow for a number of reasons as both he and Henrik Larsson donned their iconic buzz cuts, terrorising Premiership defences and breaking all sorts of records.

He also had successful spells at Arsenal, Luton and West Ham before his trophy laden stint north of the border, where he played a key role in helping Celtic make it to the Uefa Cup final in 2003.

This meant many had become accustomed to seeing the lethal striker without hair and, so much so, that it had become a second nature for many to assume he never had any at all.

Hartson has since become a regular on our TV screens as a pundit and co-commentator, including during the Qatar World Cup where he guided fans through Wales’ calamitous Group Stage exit.

And he has taken a break from his co-commentary duties in Qatar to post the throwback snap and it’s left fans all saying the same thing.

The snap shows a four-year-old Hartson in a different light AND with a full head of hair!

Hartson posted the pic to social media saying: “Me and my big brother James with my mother.. James was 7 and I’m 4 years of age. Old photos are brilliant. Memories.”

A former opponent replied to the post, saying: “Awww lovely photo @johnhartson10, I remember that hair cut giving me nightmares in the Swansea under 12 league.”

One fan added: “Hard to imagine that lad battering the hardest of premier league defenders ha.”

Another one said: “Some barnet John.”

One bemused punter added: “That’s a barnet right there big man.”

An adoning Celtic supporter replied: “Brilliant hairdoo mate.”

But Hartson’s locks weren’t the only thing to to catch the eye of his followers.

Hartson’s top can be seen showing a British icon in Paddington Bear.

It clearly went down well as supporters were keen to pay compliments about his fashion choice.

Whilst one follower added: “Love it. I had that paddington t shirt too.”
