Celtic 4 Hibs 1 LIVE score as James Forrest secures historic Hoops milestone
Hibs #Hibs
Celtic and Ange Postecoglou got the reaction they were looking for at Parkhead this afternoon as they crushed Hibs 6-1.
The Easter Road side did start the game well, pressing Celtic high and trying to capitalise on defensive frailties. But Celtic got off to a flyer on 16 minutes as Sead Haksabanovic curled in a lovely cross which James Forrest turned home.
Celtic were back at it moments later as Alexandro Bernabei fired over a lovely first-time cross for Giorgos Giakoumakis to slot past helpless David Marshall. Man of the moment James Forrest then bagged his second as Marshall just couldn’t hold on to his powerful shot.
After four half-time substitutions, Lee Johnson’s men pulled one back through Elie Youan’s low strike but James Forrest found himself in loads of space just a few moments later. The veteran attacker blasted beyond Marshall. Giakoumakis then fired home number five from the edge of the box, from a move which was started by Tony Ralston.
To rub salt into Hibs’ wounds, Daizen Maeda used that limitless pace of his to latch on to Aaron Mooy’s clipped ball. The Japanese striker kept his cool to slot low into the far corner.
