Channel 4 Celebrity Gogglebox star Maureen Lipman has slammed show bosses after confirming she had quit the series. The Coronation Street actress began appearing on the show with Gyles Brandreth in 2020.
The 76-year-old is currently playing Evelyn Plummer – grandmother of Tyrone Dobbs – on the cobbles. She was a popular celebrity on the Gogglebox spin-off show until she announced in December that she was leaving the show.
She has been replaced by Joanna Lumley who is set to join Gyles for the new series which starts on Friday. Maureen has since criticised the show for it’s editing.

Speaking to Radio Times, Maureen said: “It is [over] from my point of view.
“I’m sure they’ll put someone else with Gyles.”
She added: “I went into Gogglebox imagining that they wanted me for my wit and my brain. Of course, they just want to show you willies and for you to be shocked.
“Honestly, we were really funny together, but none of that was used. And if they don’t want to use what we gave them, f*** them.”
Maureen previously said that having to watch Channel 4’s Naked Attraction was the final straw for her. The dating show features one person choosing a date based purely on their body alone – with their bodies and faces being gradually revealed every round.
She explained: “They’re not really interested in our opinions on what they’re giving us.
“I’d seen Gogglebox and I thought, “Oh, [ours] is the grown-up version, is it?”
“But it’s your reaction to 12 dangling willies they want. They’re searching for ways to make me go: ‘Urgh!’.”
