Our CCX Sports Spotlight shines on outstanding Hopkins gymnast Annabelle Speers.

John Jacobson profiles the Royals’ junior all-arounder.

Speers helped Hopkins to an unbeaten record in Lake Conference dual meets as the Royals earned their first conference title since 2009.

Next weekend they will aim to win their first section title since 2008 and are one of the favorites to take the Section 6AA title.

Speers, who was named Section 6AA diver of the year in the fall swimming and diving season, will be one of the best competitors at the section meet.

She won the all-around, vault, and uneven bars at last year’s Section 6AA meet.

Hopkins hosts the 6AA meet Saturday February 18.
