But not every foul is a yellow card and maybe that was his last chance.

Erik ten Hag subbed him at half-time before he was sent off, because his next foul would have resulted in a red card.

You’re looking at four or five careless fouls before you get a caution for persistently infringing the laws of the game.

Ten Hag revealed in his post-match interview that he subbed Casemiro due to what he believes is unfair treatment from referees.

He said: “Even when he is not touching opponents he gets booked.

“Often the first moment of the game.

“I think it’s crazy and it was so unfair that first booking.

“That second could have been so that’s why I took him off.

Casemiro and his Manchester United team-mates will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Fulham to Old Trafford.
