Referee Robert Jones booked the Brazilian during United’s 2-1 win for a foul on Villa defender Matty Cash.
However, Casemiro was left perplexed by the decision, passionately protesting to the officials.
The Brazilian was seen showing an imaginary card to the referee, suggesting Cash should be booked for diving, only to be handed a card himself.
He then waved his arms in the air and shook his head repeatedly as he gestured to the referee and his assistant.
And fans were adamant Casemiro’s behaviour would fall foul of the proposed new blue card.
Reacting on social media, one supporter wrote: “Casemiro begging for a blue card.”
Another added: “If they do this blue card thing Casemiro will be off the pitch for 89 minutes of the game.”
A third fan also commented: “Casemiro will be the first blue card.”
Meanwhile, one more joked: “Casemiro is not gonna like the blue card. He’ll be on and off the whole game.”
