In something of a shocking move, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals plan to trade All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

“Sources: #AZCardinals plan to try and trade All-Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins this offseason,” said Schultz. “DHop has 2 [years] and $34.36M left on his contract and is likely to seek a new deal. Owner Michael Bidwill plans to express this to GM candidates.”

It looks like the main reason the Cardinals are ready to trade Hopkins is that they will owe him almost $20 million next year.

This was not a good season for either the Cardinals or Hopkins. He was suspended six games to start the season for a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Then he ended the season having to sit out the last two games because of a knee injury. Hopkins still garnered over 700 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

When the Cardinals traded for Hopkins from the Houston Texans, most NFL experts thought that this was the move the Cardinals needed to put them over the top and make them Super Bowl contenders. However, that has clearly not been the case.

Now, the Cardinals have fired Kliff Kingsbury and Hopkins looks as if he will be with his third team soon. The question is, what team would be interested in a trade and how much are they willing to give up?
