The Arizona Cardinals lost 20-12 to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, dropping them to 8-7, but they briefly feared that they may have lost even more.
On fourth-and-6 with 20 seconds left in the game, quarterback Kyler Murray was hit hard on the play and stayed down for a significant amount of time afterward. He was able to eventually walk off on his own before sitting on the bench for a bit with training staff.
Coach Kliff Kingsbury did not have a firm update after the game. Murray did not address the media.
“Hurt his leg, so he’s getting examined right now, and I’ll figure that out once I leave here,” Kingsbury said.

Murray was able to walk to the locker room on own after the end of the game as well.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Murray is likely to be OK.
“QB Kyler Murray should be OK, source said,” Rapoport tweeted shortly after Kingsbury’s press conference. “He got leg-whipped at the end of the game and is getting checked out. But at first glance, it doesn’t seem serious.”
Murray was 31-of-50 and threw for 247 yards. He was intercepted once in the end zone, and did not throw for a touchdown. He was sacked three times and was hit another five times.
Kingsbury also did not have an update on running back Chase Edmonds, who left the game during the first half with a hip injury. He did acknowledge that Edmonds’ absence impacted the Cardinals offense.
“He does a lot for us, as you’ve seen all year,” Kingsbury said. “Pass game, run game, he’s a dynamic player. It limits some things.”
Edmonds had eight yards on two catches prior to his injury. He did not have any carries.

With a catch in the fourth quarter, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins notched his 109th reception this season, tying a Cardinals single-season record set by Larry Fitzgerald in 2015 and 2017. Hopkins then broke and later extended the record, finishing the game with eight catches, putting him at 111 total so far this season.
“Honestly, I don’t think we expected anything less of DHop,” left tackle D.J. Humphries said.
“He’s the best receiver in the world, in our opinion, and we didn’t expect any less from him (than) to come here and continue to be one of the best receivers in the league. So it definitely didn’t surprise me at all.”
Hopkins’ own single-season best is 115, set in 2018 with the Texans.
