WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – A car thief driving in a stolen Hyundai traded his car for an upgrade overnight. Early this morning, he entered a home in Wall Township, stole the keys to a Porsche, and left the Hyundai in the driveway.

Much to the surprise of the Porsche owner who found their luxury car had been swiped.

The incident happened at a residence off Atlantic Avenue near Ramshorn Drive at 6:30 a.m., Wall Township Police reported. Responding to the call, police found that a newer model Porsche, previously locked in the driveway, had been stolen.

Wall police said the thieves gained entry into the house via an open window, seized the car keys, and drove away with the Porsche.

They left behind a 2015 Hyundai, a vehicle previously reported stolen out of Irvington

The series of events led to a cross-state vehicle recovery when the stolen Porsche was located and recovered in Brooklyn, New York, a few hours later.

Wall Township Police Department, along with authorities in New York, are continuing the investigation into the incidents.
