Captain Tom ‘gave me profits’, says daughter

Captain Sir Tom Moore’s daughter has said her company received £800,000 from three books the veteran wrote, amid accusations that the family had kept money intended to be donated to charity.

Hannah Ingram-Moore told Piers Morgan on his TalkTV show Uncensored on Wednesday night that her father wanted her to keep the profits, and that there was no suggestion that people buying the books thought they were donating to charity.

The money was received by Club Nook Ltd, Ms Ingram-Moore said, a company set up by her and her husband Colin in April 2020.

In a charged interview, she told Morgan: “These were my father’s books, and it was honestly such a joy for him to write them, but they were his books.

“He had an agent and they worked on that deal, and his wishes were that that money would sit in Club Nook, and in the end . . . ”

Morgan asked: “For you to keep?”, to which Ms Ingram-Moore replied “yes”.

A formal investigation was launched by the Charity Commission into the Captain Tom Foundation in June 2020, over a possible “significant profit” generated for Club Nook.

The company registered trademark variations of Captain Sir Tom’s name, and before his death products went on sale with profits going to the foundation.

Ms Ingram-Moore also told Morgan that she was paid £18,000 for appearing at the The Virgin Media O2 Captain Tom Foundation Connector Awards in 2021.
