Will the Miami Hurricanes continue to rely on the Transfer Portal as much as they have since Mario Cristobal arrived?
That’s the big question. In fact, it’s an often discussed topic among fans, parents of high school recruits, high school and college coaches, and many other people. To that point, what do you think the best answer would be for the following poll questions?
Other programs like Georgia and Alabama have not dipped into the Transfer Portal nearly as much. However, how much were the rosters the same?
Of course they were different. That’s the bottom line. So, a more applicable question would be, how much longer does Cristobal and his staff need to go into double digit Transfer Portal signees?
After looking at the numbers of schools around the country, including Deion Sanders and Colorado already being at 50 players signed as transfers, Miami’s situation was not nearly as dependent on the Transfer Portal as some might think.
The Canes were at 16 players with offensive lineman Lou Cristobal coming over from Georgia State.
There were some key reasons for how Miami went down the path of signing so many transfers, however.
The offensive line was no place near where it needed to be. The defensive line, while talented, did not possess the natural size it probably should have included for a school with such a rich history at the position, too.
Then, how in the world did Miami not have enough pure talent at cornerback? That might have been the craziest thing about when Cristobal took over. There was talent, but the depth was not even close to what the Canes needed.
Here’s a further breakdown of the point Miami reached to date, as well as what will likely happen over the next few seasons. Take a few moments and listen, and please leave a comment. curious to what everyone thinks.
