Campbell excited by ‘brilliant’ Goldson news after Rangers contract update

Connor Goldson will put pen to paper on a new contract with Rangers.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old’s future in light of recent developments.

Goldson has less than 10 months left on his contract at Ibrox and will be free to talk to foreign clubs regarding a pre-contract from January.

In an interview with RangersTV, quoted by Glasgow Live, the centre-half hinted at signing an extension when he said he wanted to dominate Scottish football for years to come.

According to the Daily Record (24th July), Goldson has agreed to extend his contract in Glasgow and will become one of club’s top earners in the process.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said: “Goldson will get tied down, I’m sure of it.

“They will come to an agreement on that front because he is an invaluable member of that team.

“He has been brilliant for Rangers since he’s been there. If you tie up all of your top players, you are in business, brilliant news.

“Why would he want to leave? He played every game for a side that went unbeaten in the league.

“He will be over the moon the season has restarted. He’ll be like, ‘Fantastic, roll on the next game.’”

Goldson played the full ninety minutes of Steven Gerrard’s side’s opening day victory over Livingston at Ibrox.

Goals from Ianis Hagi, Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe secured a 3-0 win.

In other news, Danny Mills claims Malmo have ‘massive’ advantage over Rangers amid confirmed news.
