Cam Thomas #CamThomas
Corey Robinson breaks down Cam Thomas’ growing role with the Nets, as Brooklyn looks for a fresh start after dealing Kyrie Irving to Dallas.
Video Transcript
– Nets guard Cam Thomas has found it difficult to carve out a space for himself within the team’s rotation for most of his first two seasons. But that has changed over the last week, and he’s taken full advantage of the opportunity. With Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons out due to injury, and Kyrie Irving sitting this game before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Thomas went off in Brooklyn’s February 4th comeback win over the Washington Wizards, playing 29 minutes off the bench. He scored a career high 44 points while also tallying six rebounds, five assists, and four three-pointers, shooting 16 for 23 from the field and eight of nine from the foul line.
The 44 points are the most scored by a reserve in a game this season, and Thomas has scored 19 or more in three straight games. While he doesn’t offer much value defensively, Thomas is providing fourth round value in nine-cat formats over the last week, averaging 28.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 3.0 three-pointers per game. With the uncertainty around this team, fantasy managers need to roster Thomas, who’s available in 85% of Yahoo leagues.
