Newcastle United were much-improved at Goodison Park as they looked to halt a run of 11 games without a win.
The Magpies had lost against Leeds in midweek but their improvement in the second half was a source of encouragement and Newcastle’s first 45 was a continuation of that.
After an early scare when Yerry Mina threatened the goal it was mostly Newcastle who had the better chances. Callum Wilson fired over and then forced Jordan Pickford into a fingertip save.
