C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans are headed to the NFL playoffs.
Stroud led the Texans to a 23-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium to finish the regular season 10-7 and secure a playoff berth for the first time since the 2019 campaign.
Stroud was brilliant in Saturday’s win-and-in matchup, completing 20 of 26 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 20 yards on three carries.
Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was also one of the best players on the field as he caught nine passes for 195 yards and one touchdown in the win.
What Stroud and the Texans have been able to accomplish during his rookie season has been nothing short of extraordinary, and now they’ll get the opportunity to make a little more history in the playoffs.
After the game, NFL fans were quick to hype up Stroud and the Texans for clinching a playoff berth:
Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 draft, entered Saturday’s game having completed 63.2 percent of his passes for 3,844 yards and 21 touchdowns against five interceptions in 14 games, in addition to rushing for 147 yards and three scores.
With Saturday’s performance, the Ohio State product became just the fifth rookie in NFL history to pass for at least 4,000 yards in a season
Even if the Texans don’t go very far in the 2024 postseason, it’s abundantly clear that they have a bright future ahead with Stroud under center and DeMeco Ryans as head coach.
