Buendia likes post about Aston Villa transfer target – they were together at Real Madrid

Emi Buendia has liked a Twitter post showing footage of Aston Villa transfer target, Raul de Tomas, showcasing his goalscoring ability.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Villa are possibly looking for another forward this summer, with de Tomas mentioned, but issues lie with the player’s ‘off-the-ball workrate’.

The 27-year-old scored 17 goals in 34 La Liga games for Espanyol last season and it seems as though it has caught the eye of Premier League teams.

Back in January, Arsenal were trying to sign the Spanish hitman, but a move didn’t materialise for the player, who recently earned caps for his country.

Nonetheless, with question marks over the form of Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins, could Steven Gerrard dip into the market and add another goalscorer to his ranks?

Well, with Buendia liking a Twitter post about the player, it has only added fuel to the fire, but it needs to be remembered that the duo were together in Real Madrid’s youth system as teenagers.

DOES GERRARD NEED MORE FIREPOWER OR BETTER TACTICS?

On paper, Villa’s forward line, for a team not in Europe, is pretty expensive and one that has depth compared to the teams outside of the top seven.

Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings, Leon Bailey, Anwar El Ghazi, Cameron Archer, Bertrand Traore, Emi Buendia, Philippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey, are the players Gerrard can pick from for those attacking places.

Yes, some of them, such as El Ghazi and Traore, might head for the exit door, but whilst Watkins and Ings struggle, it’s not just down to their lack of finishing or composure in front of goal.

Villa just simply aren’t creating enough chances, and rather than add another goalscorer to the squad, how about Gerrard makes the team perform AS A TEAM!?

Then the likes of Watkins and Ings will flourish because, whilst they can be criticised, at the end of the day, it’s not like they are missing chances galore – the Bournemouth game and last season is proof of that.
