Bucs, Chiefs invoke Michael Jordan in Super Bowl trash talk

It’s the Super Bowl, the biggest game in American professional sports, and somehow Michael Jordan still looms large.

The Bucs and Chiefs are set to meet in Tampa Bay, and the trash talk has brought the Bulls legend into the mix.

It started with Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones saying the Chiefs would win five or more rings. Then wide receiver Tyreek Hill elaborated on the Chiefs’ dynasty aspirations during an appearance on ESPN’s First Take.

“Well, I’m not gonna say he’s telling a fib,” Hill said. “But Chris Jones, he’s definitely a man of his word, and we’re definitely creating something special here in KC, so I don’t see why not. Why say five? Why not go seven rings? Right now we’re just chasing Jordan, so that’s what we do. So I’m going over five, and I’m saying seven.”

It’s a little premature to say you’re chasing Jordan when you’ve won a single Super Bowl and are just appearing in your second, it feels like a better comment to make coming off back-to-back wins while going for a three-peat, but hey… can’t fault anyone for aspiring to reach Michael Jordan levels of greatness.

Enter Tom Brady, a man who actually has six championship rings like Jordan.

Classic social media Tom.

But perhaps there is also a little element of Brady feeling slighted? Why aren’t people in the NFL aiming to replicate his greatness since it came in the same league.
