An old video of BTS’ Jungkook has surfaced online, which has again garnered huge attention from BTS lovers mostly. In the video, Jungkook is seen talking about the love story of his parents.”My dad is younger than my mom,” says a smiling Jungkook and goes on to answer “by how much” with “2 years”.”Do you know their love story?””My mom fell for him first and hit on him,” he says and bursts out laughing while adding more to the story. “My mom said she did it, because my dad was good looking,” he added.

This is not the first instance where the 24 year old has spoken about his family.

Jeon Jung-kook, popularly known as Jungkook, grew up in a traditional South Korean family and has always said that his parents supported him to pursue his dreams. Right now he is the youngest member and vocalist of BTS, the South Korean band.

He was born on September 1, 1997 in Busan, South Korea. On June 12, 2013, he made his debut as a member of BTS.

On a South Korean show, he had revealed how his dad stopped smoking after he pleaded with him to stop it for the sake of his health.

Younger among siblings, Jungkook had also revealed how he got punished one day for cheating in the exam. “I got a really good spanking,” he said and added that his mom was always concerned about being honest. “I don’t care if you get 100 or zero. But the issue here is that you cheated,” she told him.

What does this say about modern age parenting?

More transparency, exchanging life experiences, talking to kids about relationships and including discussions on courtships are getting into parenting in this modern age.

1997 born Jungkook is one of the many new generation kids who are lucky enough to have parental support in dealing with crisis and mental exhaustion that usually arises in growing years.

Decades earlier, there was a huge gap between the robust walls of parental and children conversations. A child had to confide in a friend or a cousin for help and support; mental worries were at times left unaddressed. The need for a transparent parent child interaction “The communication between parents and children fuels their bond and functions to socialize children (i.e., gender, career and work, relationship values and skills, and health behaviors), provide social support, show affection, make sense of their life experiences, engage in conflict, manage private information, and create a family communication environment,” says a study. Just as interaction with a baby enhances his or her cognitive functions like gazing, following, communicating and gesturing, healthy interaction in the growing years of a child will help them in having a healthy lifestyle where they will be able to regulate and manage their emotions and meet the demands of life.
