Bryce Ruthven’s own friends say he’s ‘no doubt’ lying to Melissa Ruthven about his secret girlfriend

He’s been dubbed the ‘groom from hell’ on this season of Married At First Sight, thanks to his controversial on-screen antics.

And on Tuesday night’s episode, Bryce Ruthven was sensationally thrown under the bus by his own friends – who claim the former radio host is ‘no doubt’ lying to his wife Melissa Rawson about having a secret girlfriend away from the show.

During the episode, Bryce brought his wife to Canberra to meet three of his pals – including Big Brother star Jason Roses – where she questioned them point-blank about the rumours.

Melissa asked the trio directly about the supposed ‘secret girlfriend’ who he met on Tinder, a question which made the sheepish gang quiver in their seats.

‘I don’t have heaps to comment. If I knew more I’d totally jump in and say something… but… yeah,’ Mikayla awkwardly chimed in.

When a producer asked Jason if the rumours were true, he said: ‘No… I don’t know. I don’t know what he’s doing, all I know is that he was seeing a girl on the outside, and I’m sure it ended when he went on the show. I’m going to believe what he’s saying.’

However, once Melissa and Bryce left the room – and it appeared the group didn’t know they were being filmed – they had something very different to say.

‘Do you think he’s lied to her?’ Jason asked, to which Elly replied: ‘Yep.’

‘Yeah. No doubt,’ Jason added.

‘Because the gift thing is true,’ Elly said, referring to the rumours he asked a friend to buy a gift for a mystery woman while he was with Melissa.

Later in the episode, Melissa and Bryce had a romantic picnic together – and he continued with the claim he’d been ‘open and honest’ with his bride the entire time.

Melissa explained that she was still unsure whether or not to believe in her husband, after his friends didn’t ‘absolutely deny’ the claims to her face.

‘I don’t know why they didn’t really give a clear answer, so, I can’t really answer for them what they were thinking, so…’ he blurted out.

After asking him point-blank if there was anything he needed to tell her, he said: ‘No, I’ve been so open and honest with you the whole way through the experiment. Like, sometimes, it’s been my downfall… it’s just not true.’

He then said he was ‘falling in love’ with Melissa, saying he likes how she ‘tolerates his behaviour’.

Speaking to producers, Melissa later said: ‘If I find out down the track that any of these rumours are true, I would just be completely and utterly humiliated.’
