Bryce Dallas Howard has revealed that she was paid far less than her co-star Chris Pratt for the Jurassic World trilogy.
In 2018, Variety initially reported that Howard was paid $2 million less than Pratt for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the second movie in the trilogy. But in a new interview with Insider, Howard has clarified she was actually paid far less than that report stated.
“The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less. When I started negotiating for Jurassic [World] it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage,” Howard said.

“And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, and so your deals are set.”
Howard’s deal with Universal wasn’t limited to the movies however as her payment also included other franchise properties such as video games and theme park rides.
These payments were not contractually bound, so she was able to negotiate equal pay. Howard explained that she discussed this issue with Pratt, who pushed for her to receive equal pay.

“What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me: ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same, and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce,'” Howard said.
“And I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I’ve been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie.”

The revelation continues a decades-long trend of pay disparity between men and women in Hollywood. In 2018, The Crown actress Claire Foy called the show’s pay gap “embarrassing”, while in the same year, Benedict Cumberbatch vowed never to accept a role if his female co-stars aren’t paid the same as him.
Howard starred in three Jurassic World movies alongside Pratt, concluding with Jurassic World: Dominion, to varying critical success but immense box office numbers. All three movies collectively grossed just shy of $4 billion worldwide.
