Bruno Fernandes gets nothing but Aleksandar Mitrovic gets straight red – Darren Bent fumes at ’embarrassing’ VAR decision

Former Premier League star Darren Bent vented his frustrations at VAR following wild scenes between Manchester United and Fulham.
On Sunday, the Cottagers took the lead in their FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford thanks to Aleksandar Mitrovic, who went from hero to zero.

talkSPORT’s Bent was far from impressed with the decision
United were awarded a penalty for Willian’s handball on the line, with the Brazilian being sent off.
Mitrovic was given his marching orders too for shoving the referee, with Marco Silva also being dismissed in the process.
However, talkSPORT host Bent was not impressed with consistency from the officials, referring to when Bruno Fernandes pushed the assistant referee in Man United’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool.
On Twitter he raged: “Bruno gets nothing for pushing a linesman but Mitrovic gets a straight red for bumping the ref, inconsistent VAR. Embarrassing.”
It was a hectic few minutes, with Fernandes equalising for United from the penalty before Marcel Sabitzer gave them a 2-1 lead.
Fernandes then scored United’s third as they made the most of their two-man advantage.

Woods and O’Hara clash over possible ten-match ban for Mitrovic in fiery debate
Silva was asked after the game if he expected Mitrovic to receive a lengthy ban, such as the 11-match suspension handed to Sheffield Wednesday’s Paolo Di Canio received for shoving referee Paul Alcock to the floor in 1998.
“I didn’t see in a so, so bad way,” the boss said. “He pushed the referee and Mitro should control his emotions. I saw the image and I will speak with him.
“But I hope the people who are going to decide do so with fairness that the moment deserves.”
Unfortunately for Silva, Mitrovic is set for a lengthy ban after the FA confirmed the standard punishment for violent conduct (three-game ban) ‘is clearly insufficient’, while he is set to be banned as well after being found guilty of using ‘abusive language’ towards the referee and fourth official.
