Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson was ejected early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game for a high hit on Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave.

This is Jackson’s second ejection of the season. Repeat offenders are subject to additional discipline, inlcuding larger fines and potential suspensions (per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero).

Jackson was previously ejected and fined $19,669 for unnecessary roughness due to a hit on tight end Jordan Thomas during the team’s Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders.

The former first-round pick has been fined four times in Denver’s first six games of the season, and he’ll likely be receiving a fifth one after his actions on Sunday. His most recent punishment came after the team’s 19-8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, being fined $43,709 for a hit that was not penalized during the contest.

In total, Jackson has racked up $89,670 in fines this season.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton was noncommittal when responding to questions about Jackson’s Week 2 ejection against the Commanders, according to ProFootballTalk.

“I don’t have an answer for you,” Payton said. “Those things happen so quickly and, from my vantage point, you just get to see it one time. You look up. They make the call, and you have to go with it.”

The 14-year veteran has recorded 22 interceptions, 109 passes defensed, and seven forced fumbles in his career.

The Broncos’ secondary has struggled in 2023, however. The team allowed 268.0 passing yards per game heading into Sunday’s action, the third-worst mark in the NFL.
