England’s goal-scorers in the win over Colombia on Saturday are relishing the challenge of taking on host nation Australia in the Women’s World Cup semi-final after firing the Lionesses into the final four.

Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo scored the goals which saw Sarina Wiegman’s side come from behind to beat the South Americans 2-1 in Sydney.

The victory sets up a blockbuster semi-final against the Matildas after the home side dramatically beat France in an epic penalty shoot out earlier on Saturday.

It will be a seriously noisy affair when England meet Australia next week but Arsenal’s Russo is already relishing the prospect.

‘It’s exciting, what more do you want? You want to play against the best teams and obviously they’re the hosts,’ Russo told ITV.

‘Colombia had a great fanbase out here tonight so we’ve had a little taste. I’m so excited. You can always dare to dream, we’ll keep working hard.’

Hemp is also excited for the prospect of meeting the Australians, feeling full of confidence as England keep up their impressive run.

‘I feel as a group we’re in a really strong place at the moment, feeling really confident, so bring on Australia in a few days time,’ said the Manchester City forward.

‘I’m absolutely buzzing, this is where you want to be, I want to play on the world’s biggest stages and we’re here right now in the semi-final. I’m absolutely over the moon and I can’t wait.

‘The atmosphere her was incredible and it’s going to be incredible again. I feel like sometimes that’s when you thrive and I feel like we thrived tonight, so hopefully we’ll do the same in a few days time.’
