Brian Kelly got a huge boost to his program in the form of the commitment of a five-star recruit.

The LSU Tigers were ranked No. 10 in the very first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2022 season. This comes just ahead of their big matchup against the No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 10, where a win would help create a path to the Playoff. How could this week get any better for head coach Brian Kelly’s team?

Well, we found reason for the LSU faithful to be feeling great heading into Saturday.

On Friday, five-star recruit and quarterback Colin Hurley announced his commitment to LSU. Not only that, but Hurley reclassified himself as a 2024 recruit instead of 2025.

Hurley is the third-ranked quarterback in the nation and the fifth-overall recruit in all of Florida, per 247 Sports Composite. The Trinity Christian Academy quarterback received offers from 25 schools, including Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Penn State. Yet, it was LSU who won out.

The Tigers will have Hurley entering the program in 2024, where he will be joined by Walker Howard and Rickie Collins.

LSU is experiencing some very good success with Kelly at the helm in his first season. Even though they lost two games to Florida State and Tennessee, they have picked up big wins over Florida and Ole Miss, the latter of whom were undefeated heading into their matchup.

Kelly and LSU could make their week even better by picking up a win over Nick Saban and Alabama, which would make a path to the College Football Playoff much more difficult for the Crimson Tide.
